Steve Banning
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer
Steve Banning Steve Banning was appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Epic Energy in August 2007.
Mr Banning has extensive experience in the Australian gas market gained from a successful career in key commercial roles.
Mr Banning has an extensive background in technical marketing and business development across Australia and the United Kingdom and has spent the last eight years working in upstream and midstream commercial roles in the Australian energy market. During this time, Mr Banning was responsible for the commercial performance of the Eastern, Tasmanian and Queensland gas pipelines on behalf of Duke Energy International (Duke) and then Alinta. Before commencing with Duke, he held business development roles with ExxonMobil Gas Marketing, focusing on gas and ethane sales.

 

Michael Schumann
General Manager - Projects
Mike Schumann The General Manager - Projects is responsible for leading the development and execution of growth and expansion projects in relation to existing and new gas transmission pipeline infrastructure.

Michael Schumann is the General Manager - Projects. Mr Schumann in an Engineer with more than 25 years experience in the energy, oil & gas, water, and corrosion industries. Mike was the General Manager - Operations for Epic Energy from 2005 to 2010. Prior to joining Epic, Mike held several senior management positions with Duke Energy International and then Alinta, including Regional Manager Gas Transmission (Alinta), Manager Operations - Gas Transmission (Alinta and Duke), and Manager Engineering and Technical Services (Duke). Before commencing with Duke, he was employed by Santos in Adelaide for over 6 years and held a number of operations and operations support roles in the upstream oil & gas industry. His early career was involved with cathodic protection, corrosion engineering, and process engineering mostly with pipelines in the oil & gas and water industries.

 
Joanna Buck
General Counsel and Company Secretary
Joanna Buck Joanna Buck joined Epic Energy in February 2005 as General Counsel and Company Secretary. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Buck was Assistant General Counsel for Duke Energy International (Asia Pacific) from September 2002 until its acquisition in 2004 by Alinta Limited. In this role she performed a broad range of corporate legal services for the business. From 1996 until 2002, Ms. Buck was an Associate with the U.S. law firms of Hughes & Luce L.L.P. (Dallas, Texas) and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom (Sydney), where she focused on corporate financings and mergers and acquisitions.

Ms. Buck holds a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University (North Carolina, United States), and a Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School (Massachusetts, United States). She has also received her M.B.A. (Executive) from the Australian Graduate School of Management and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

 
Toni Flynn
Manager Human Resources
Toni Flynn Toni Flynn oversees all human resource matters and is responsible for employment and employment relations. Ms. Flynn serves as a key player on our management team, working collaboratively to develop and implement effective recruitment strategies, comprehensive compensation and employee benefit programs, HR policies and procedures, and healthy employee/employer relations at Epic Energy.

With over twenty years HR experience in the finance sector, corporate and government bodies Ms. Flynn has a broad knowledge base in change/transition management, employee relations, company mergers, selection and recruitment, counselling, and implementation of organisational structures. She has a Graduate Diploma in Business majoring in Psychology and Organisational Behaviour and a Diploma of Education.

 
Matt Brassington
Chief Financial Officer
Matt Brassington Matt Brassington joined Epic Energy as Chief Financial Officer in January 2008. Prior to joining Epic, Mr Brassington worked in senior finance roles for more than ten years in the business services sector including a four year stint as Finance Director for a London Stock Exchange listed consulting business. From 1991 and 1997, Mr Brassington worked for BDO Binder Hamlyn initially training as an auditor before moving into a role managing services provided to a portfolio of audit clients across the manufacturing, retail and support service sectors.

Mr Brassington holds a Bachelor of Arts from Leeds University, UK and has been a full member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales since 1993.
 

Stephen Livens
General Manager Risk & Sustainability
Steve Livens

Stephen Livens was appointed Epic Energy’s General Manager, Risk and Sustainability on 1 January 2008. Prior to joining Epic in March 2005, Mr Livens worked in senior management roles with Alinta Ltd and Duke Energy International (Asia Pacific).

Mr Livens has an extensive background in government and regulatory affairs in the energy sector from both a corporate and government perspective, and broad experience in enterprise wide risk management. More recently Mr Livens has been tasked with developing and implementing an Epic-wide business sustainability framework and reporting methodology to ensure the long term ongoing viability of Epic Energy as a leading owner and provider of gas transmission services in Australia. Mr Livens holds a Bachelor of Business (Economics) from Deakin University. 

Clive D'Cruz
General Manager Operations

 Clive DCruz

Clive D’Cruz was appointed General Manager Operations in January 2010. The General Manager Operations is responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of Epic Energy’s existing gas transmission pipeline infrastructure. Mr D’Cruz joined Epic Energy as Manager Operations in 2005.

Mr D’Cruz holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and a Grad. Dip. (BA) from the University of Adelaide.

Mr D’Cruz has over 12 years experience in the energy and oil & gas industries.  Prior to joining Epic, Mr D’Cruz held several management positions with Origin Energy including Pipeline Operations Manager and Manager Gas Control.  He was also involved with various pipeline construction projects during his tenure with Origin.
